RIHANNA // VOGUE

Rihanna’s summer so far has consisted of a jaunt to Paris to support partner A$AP Rocky’s show, fashionable trips out with sons RZA and Riot, promo for the Smurfs film in which she stars, and good food from fave Giorgio Baldi and go-to burger and fries. Through it all, her maternity style has never wavered—whether that means making a pregnancy belt a hot accessory, doing head-to-toe Jonathan Anderson for Dior, or stepping out in an avant-garde, below-the-belly Alaïa outfit.

Who knows how long Rih will hang around Los Angeles before she jets off again, but yesterday, she made time for a quick lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel. The pop star and Fenty Beauty mogul was photographed wearing a cropped button-up shirt in blue and white stripes, with a matching full skirt that sat low on her waist to allow her bump some freedom. She accessorised with a black baseball cap, Dior sunglasses, black double-strapped ballerina flats, striped tube socks, and a rare Louis Vuitton bag. From the summery striped co-ord to the ballets and the cap, Rih went in on the print, shoe, and headwear du jour.

The bag in question is a Marc Jacobs-era Louis Vuitton Alma Graffiti bag. A Tippex-white and black beacon of style history, the graffiti-emblazoned version of the house’s signature ladylike Alma bag (first created in 1934) was made in collaboration with designer and artist Stephen Sprouse in 2001, and marked a major early noughties moment that subverted fashion’s penchant for logos. It’s been in the Rih archive from at least 2024, when she was last spotted with it, and remains one of the true original it-bags. Rih, as always, sensed the style’s renaissance: Just in the last few weeks, Tyla and Mariah the Scientist have been spotted with a Sprouse-stamped LV bag.
