In the space of just two weeks, Rihanna has completely redefined maternity fashion. What you may not have noticed in all the excitement, though, is the amount of vintage incorporated into her looks – from that bubblegum-pink coat from Chanel’s autumn/winter 1997 collection to the Roberto Cavalli leopard-print coat dating back to the Noughties.
In fact, Rihanna has long been an advocate for vintage fashion, with everything from Tom Ford-era Gucci to ’80s Jean Paul Gaultier popping up in her wardrobe in recent years. She’s a fan of secondhand jewellery, too – the Christian Lacroix necklace draped over her bump during her pregnancy shoot was sourced from Archive vintage – while her extensive bag collection is second-to-none.
